Cleaning Document Feeder Exposure Glass
A dirty DF exposure glass (indicated by "1" in the picture) will cause lines on copies though the automatic feeder. Coping documents including white-out or ink, or simply dust build are some of the factor leading up to the glass getting dirty.
Wipe the glass with a soft, damp cloth, and then wipe it with a dry cloth to remove the water.
Do not use chemical cleaner or organic solvents, such as thinner or benzene. If they get into the machine or melt plastic parts, a failure might occur.
Remedying SC 501, 502, 503- Tray Lift Error
Remove all paper from the drawer. It is very important to fan/shuffle the paper and straighten curled or warped paper before loading (this is the leading cause in paper jams out of the drawer). Load the paper in small increments. Confirm that the top of the stack is no higher than the limit mark inside the tray. Turn the machine off, first at the on/off switch on the operation panel, then the main power (orange switch) on the front-left-side.

tandem style
1. Always store paper flat. Never lay it on it's edge, as this can cause curling.
2. Store paper away from damp/moist areas such as basements.
3. Store paper in it's wrapper to prevent absorption of moisture from the air. Store wrapped paper in the carton.
4. Keep paper away from direct sunlight to prevent it from drying out or fading.
5. Before using paper should be acclimated to room temperature. Make sure your paper has been in the same room as the machine for at least 24hr - 48hr.
1. Paper has a top and bottom surface. The side where the seam of the paper overlaps is the bottom. Place paper in the feed tray bottom surface down. This will reduce / eliminate curling, which can cause paper jams.
2. If the paper is left in the feed tray for any length of time, it can dry out and cause static. If the paper is jamming, remove it from the tray and turn it over. This will place the paper that still has some moisture at the top of the stack, eliminating the static problem.
3. Never mix different types of paper in the same paper tray. The slight difference in paper types may cause the machine to jam when it goes from on type to the other. Remove one type of paper before loading another type.
4. Some copiers cannot accept paper heavier than 20 or 24 lb. bond. Be sure to check the paper specifications for your machine.
